The AlgoBuilder firmware development tool of Italy semiconductor can separate the writing code from the firmware development, let the user use the function library module that can be compiled immediately by the STM32 micro controller (MCU), and create the sensor control algorithm on the graphical user interface.

In order to simplify based on STMicroelectronics MEMS sensor and MCU networking equipment developed for the purpose of the AlgoBuilder tool helps to quickly create and run a proof of concept model. By dragging and dropping selected functions, connection modules and configuration attributes, users can create algorithms quickly and intuitively. AlgoBuilder validates all design rules and automatically generates C code based on graphic design.

Multiple STM32 microcontrollers and MEMS sensors, including motion sensors, environmental sensors and silicon microphones, are used to provide functional libraries, such as logical operators, signal processing, user input, vector operations, etc., as well as commonly used active energy algorithms, such as sensor controllers, and transportation. Dynamic sensor calibration, activity recognition, motion intensity and pedometer. Users can also add custom functions to the AlgoBuilder function library.

Although other MEMS vendors usually provide a software library, AlgoBuilder is not limited to the software library, but also provides a firmware development environment that can connect the software library to other logical libraries to create a complete firmware project that can be compiled immediately within the STM32 IDE (integrated development environment). STM32 IDE for the STM32 TrueSTUDIO environment including Workbench, System and SW4STM32 for Arm IAR-EWARM IAR Embedded from Workbench and Vision MDK-ARM-STM32 for Keil.

AlgoBuilder generated firmware can be deployed in different STM32 microcontroller platform, including the NUCLEO-F401RE expansion board to connect the X-NUCLEO-IKS01A2 sensor and the NUCLEO-L476RG development board and STMicroelectronics SensorTile IoT module. SensorTile integrates STM32L476JG ultra low power microcontroller, motion MEMS sensor, environmental MEMS sensor and low power Bluetooth (BLE) communication technology.

Users can start the Unicleo-GUI application in AlgoBuilder to test the firmware developed, and display the output data of the firmware that is running. Unicleo-GUI is a special sensor graphical user interface, and the sensor STMicroelectronics extension package and X-NUCLEO expansion board supporting the use, allowing users to use sequence diagram, scatter diagram or 3D representation of sensor data.
